The more I read and digest information about the Ivory Coast the more I realize how truly an amazing soccer nation they really are. I was working on putting something together showing the importance of qualifying for the World Cup and subsequently playing in the African Nations Cup. This video is old but, and may or may not have been on this website before but it is just to good to pass up. I think it really shows how important and valuable success for this squad really is.

Thanks for posting this video Gianfranco. It’s these kinds of stories that remind me about the importance of football to the continent of Africa and also remind me why I love African football so much.

Oh, and what ever happened to Cyril Domoraud? Is he retired now from international football? Just seeing him in the video reminded me I haven’t really heard anything about him since the World Cup.

Yeah domoraud retired. he was something like 36 at creteil last year and apparently was hesitating to go to Qtar or not. So maybe he will maybe he won’t. He hasn’t played this season though

He is retired, but I would not rule out him being on deck for the next IC coach.

This Ivory Coast team is scary, loaded with pure talents. Much better than the best Nigerian team (the one who lost to Italy), much better than the best Cameroon team, much better than the Senegal of 2002. Probably one of the best hope of Africa to go all the way in 2010. I don’t see who can beat them during this CAN.
