Drogba to Milan?!

December 26th, 2007 | By: gianfranco | 5 Comments »

It is extremely difficult to not talk about Didier Drogba when discussing the Ivory Coast.  The
Chelsea hitman has become synonymous with and talismanic for the Elephants.  Because of this his injury status has become quite a big deal not only for him but, for his country as well.  It is no secret that Didier Drogba is one of the best strikers in the EPL and maybe even most of Europe so the Elephants will need him in top form if they are work their way out of their group in the African Nations Cup.
The squad is blessed with a fair amount of depth of front, notably Salomon Kalou, who last I knew was one of Chelsea’s most used players this season.  Can Kalou replace Drogba as the IC’s main man up front? He is a more than adequate fill in but to fill the shoes of Didier Drogba is an unenviable task for any player.  I do believe, if given the opportunity, Kalou will have a phenomenal tournament, but he as well as his country may need the help of Didier Drogba to be crowned Champions.

In other Drogba news it appears that AC Milan and more importantly Carlo Ancelotti are hot on the tale of the Ivorian in hopes of luring him to Milan.  This could be a boom for Drogba as it could potential reunite him with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.  Drogba would be an instant upgrade for AC Milan up front who have lacked the scorers touch this season, he would be cup tied in the CL but would really help Milan find form in Serie A.  It is no secret that Drogba was unhappy with the managerial switch at
Stamford Bridge and it was high unlikely that he stays another a season, making him a golden transfer target by many clubs in Europe.

Kalou is very far from matching Drogba. But up front, i think Ivory Coast has other players like Dindane and Kone, who are better then Kalou. Best of all Abdelkader Keita whom fromt he clips ive seen is an absolute powerhouse when he is on his game.

Kalou is talented but he is lacking when it comes to finishing. I think however Drogba is a soccer GOD. Also Ivory Coast have tons of other players that are very good at scoring, like the small but extremely effective Arthur Boka.

Ivory Coast= Entertainment, they are cool to watch, i will vote from them except if they play Tunisia ( I owe my ancestors at least that) :)

Bman, I appreciate the comments, I agree with you on Dindane but Keita is a relative unknown to me. Where does he play his club ball? You are right about the IC playing exciting football, but as we all know exciting football does not always win tournaments.
