Salomon Kalou now wants to play for Cote d’Ivoire

May 23rd, 2006 | By: Ade Lamidi | 3 Comments »

Having had his hopes dashed of playing for Holland, Salomon Kalou has now had a change of heart and opted to play for Cote d’Ivoire.

This is such a shame for Salomon who has now realised that maybe he should have taken the chance with Cote d’Ivoire when they where courting for his services.

Anyhow, I guess Holland’s loss in Cote d’Ivoire’s gain.

If salomon kalou is not aloud to play for ivory coast, Then he will wait till euro 2008 and join holland, which i hope, because he is a great player, but at the moment he is just eager to play in a world cup, not mattering for which team it would be.

It’s a pity that Kalou didn’t opt for his home country in the first place. If more African players played for their home country rather than European countries then African teams would get a real boost.

Of course, if the African has been brought up in Europe and learnt his football over there, then it is a different case, but I don’t think this applies for Kalou

I agree with Akbar, if you are eligible for 2 nations, the one which you were brought up in and started your career is the nation you should play for. But in todays world, it’s more a case of which nation can take you to a World Cup quicker.
