Cote d’Ivoire lose final on penalties

February 10th, 2006 | By: Ade Lamidi | No Comments »

Cote d’Ivoire lost the Nations Cup Final in Cairo in a penalty shoot-out 4-2. Didier Drogba and Bakary Kone both missed penalties for the Elephants to lose the final.

In a match in which Egypt lost a penalty in extra time, on the balance of play, Egypt were probably the better team and deserve to be champions.

Cote d’Ivoire can take credit from a fantastic tournament and can now look forward representing the continent of Africa in the World Cup finals in June.
