Cote d’Ivoire hope racism will not prevail in friendly against Spain
March 1st, 2006 | By: Ade Lamidi | No Comments »
As Cote d’Ivoire prepare to take on Spain in a friendly in the Spanish city of Vallodolid, the vice-president of the Cote d’Ivoire Football Federation, Idriss Diallo hopes that racism will not be an issue.
Cote d’Ivoire take on Spain four days after Barcelona and Cameroon start Samuel Eto’o threatened to walk off the pitch after been racially abused by Zaragoza fans. And we know too well that England black players were racially taunted when England took on Spain in a friendly in 2004.
We all know that only a minority of fans cause such problems but can only hope that in the name of the beautiful game such incidents are not tolerated.
