Cote d’Ivoire goals in Europe

March 27th, 2006 | By: Ade Lamidi | 7 Comments »

Cote d’Ivoire strikers continued hitting the back of the net for their respective clubs in Europe.

Didier Drogba bagged both goals in Chelsea’s win over Man City.

Ivorian Amara Diane has scored for the third consecutive weekend for Strasbourg.

Diane’s 90th minute equaliser forced the game with Lille to end in a 2-2 draw.

Fellow Ivorian Abdelkader Keita scored both goals for Lille, taking his season’s tally to five, three behind Diane’s total of eight.

And Ivorian Arouna Kone helped PSV Eindhoven to a 3-0 win at Willem II. It was Kone’s 11th goal of the season.

I think ivory coast would make a fantastic show at the world cup this summer. I also think that with Drogba on the side, there is bound to be a little controversial incident but thats alright. what would football be without a little spice on the side every now and then. You may not be a didier drogba fan but lets face it. The guy can produce results. afterall he is the top striker for the best team in the premier league right now.
Anyways, ivory coast should make for pretty interesting football this summer. I hope they are matched up with Ghana at some point in the tournament. Given Ivory Coast’s status as the rising stars of Africa and Ghana’s status as the fallen-from-grace stars of Africa(funny they call themselves BLACK STARS), i think that match up will be very interesting as it would determine if Ivory has completed its ascension to the top or whether we can’t rule Ghana out of African elite status just yet.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

I like your Blog very much, is very difficult to find some information about Ivory Coast.

I`m from Colombia, and I`m a fan from Ivory Coast soccer team, and a big one of Axel Konan, team memeber of the Lecce in Italia. He make the victory goal of he`s team against Milan.I wonder if hi is on the national team.

I like someone publish a list of players for te World cup

Hi Carlos,

Most of the information about Ivory Coast is in French so you have to translate to English.

I think Axel Konan will be in the national team but there is competition for places so we will see.
