Cote d’Ivoire go down to host Egypt

Cote d’Ivoire were beaten 3-1 by host nation Egypt in their final Group A match in Cairo earlier this evening. Cote d’Ivoire fielded a weakened team because they had already qualified for the quarter-finals of the tournament.

However, they face the possibility of a mouth-watering clash against one of the tournament favourites Cameroon, who should finish top of Group B tomorrow.

Henri Michel the Cote d’Ivoire manager was quoted as saying, “Now we have to probably face Cameroon but so be it. One has to face strong teams at the knockout stage.”
