A case for the Cote d’Ivoire midfield

June 9th, 2006 | By: Ade Lamidi | 1 Comment »

The Ivorian midfield is the key department in the team.

They will have a job to protect the back four and also put the quick passes to the strikers.

Yaya Toure, Didier Zokora will probably start in the middle of the park.

Zokora more the defensive midfielder and Yaya giving the role to attack and put the passes through to the strikers. Kanga Akale and Emerse Fae will most likely start on the left and right of midfield respectively.

A real high class performer Kanga Akale offers a potent attacking threat on Ivory Coast’s left wing. He is one of the main supply lines for star man Didier Drogba and his contribution in Germany is likely to prove crucial to their chances of progression.

And we saw what a dangerous player Emerse Fae is when he came on against the Swiss and scored that cracker of a goal.

There is also a lot of talent on the bench that can come on during the game to make a difference.

I hope the midfield quartet can keep their discipline and do a good job against the Argentinians tomorrow.

Ivory Coast has excellent players in the midfield who can keep Argentinians defence busy. I hope kalou plays today. I only hope that they don’t give in to mental pressure of playing in a world cup final and and can rise to their full potential in today’s match.
